As hardscape contractors, we handle the structural side of the yard: retaining walls, walkways, steps, and the hardscaping around pools that makes the whole space usable. Most of our hardscape projects are part of a complete outdoor living build, anchored by a paver patio or deck and designed as one space from the start.
We have built hardscapes across Hamilton County since 1993, and drainage is the single biggest factor in whether the work lasts decades or fails within a few years. Every retaining wall over a certain height requires proper engineering: geogrid reinforcement, drainage planning, and correct base preparation. We do not shortcut this, because a failed wall can damage the property above and below it.
Hardscape design is where the yard gets its structure. The wall that holds back a slope, the walkway that connects the driveway to the back door, the steps down to the fire pit: these pieces set the grades and drainage that every planting and lawn depends on. Done first and done right, everything built after them goes easier.
Materials matter here the way they do on a patio. Segmental block systems like Allan Block and Versa-Lok install efficiently and carry engineered specifications; natural stone like Indiana limestone costs more but disappears into the landscape. We will show you both and tell you which fits your site and budget.

Segmental block retaining wallsAllan Block, Versa-Lok, Belgard
The most common residential retaining wall system. Cost-effective, wide color and texture range, engineered interlocking system. Best for walls up to 4 to 6 feet.
Natural stone wallsIndiana limestone, fieldstone
The premium option, dry-stack or mortared construction, the most authentic material match for a natural landscape.
Terraced wall systems
Multiple shorter walls stepping down a slope instead of one tall wall, often paired with planting beds or integrated steps. Best for significant grade change where a single wall would dominate the yard.
Paver walkways
Front walks and garden paths built on the same base preparation as our patios, so they stay flat through Indiana freeze-thaw cycles.
Steps and landings
Block or stone steps that connect elevations safely and match the surrounding walls and patios, sized to code and lit where the design calls for it.
Poured concrete walls
High-load capacity for tall walls or structural situations where block or stone will not provide sufficient strength.
Hardscaping around pools
We do not build pools. We build everything around them: the decking, walls, steps, and drainage that make a pool area safe, comfortable, and finished.
Pool decks and surrounds
Paver or stone pool surrounds with slip-conscious textures and correct pitch away from the water.
