Fire pit installation looks simple and is not. We have built fire features across Hamilton County since 1993, and placement, clearance, and fuel choice are usually what separate a feature that gets used constantly from one that gets used twice.
Gas features require a properly sized and permitted gas line. We plan that utility from day one so there is no surprise mid-build.
Fuel type shapes almost everything downstream. A gas fire pit lights instantly, produces no ash, and can run under a covered structure with proper venting, the reason it is the most popular choice in Hamilton County. A wood-burning pit delivers the crackle and the smell but needs open sky above it, a wider clearance from the house and any overhead structure, and a plan for ash and smoke direction based on your prevailing wind. Some jurisdictions restrict open burning, so we confirm local rules before we design the feature, not after.

We size the seating radius to the flame, usually six to eight feet of usable arc around a standard pit, and set the feature far enough from the house, deck rails, and roof lines to meet code and stay comfortable.
