• Bathroom Trends for 2020

  • If the kitchen is the hub of the house, then the bathroom is the retreat center. It’s a space where purpose and design are equally important. The bathroom is where you start your day but also a place to escape. It’s a space where relaxation and workability should blend together seamlessly. The bathroom is also a key selling point of any home and a great place to look when thinking of remodeling projects.

At Surroundings by Natureworks, we work with each client to bring together these key elements to create the perfect space. Below are some of the top trends we’re seeing in bathrooms that will make you want to get right to work. But, if you’re looking for more inspiration, stop by the Indiana Design Center or check out our Pinterest board.

Gold and Brass Fixtures – Available in a variety of finishes, gold and brass are taking over bathrooms everywhere. More so than stainless steel, gold and brass are great for hiding fingerprints and bring about a classic, yet updated look to bathroom designs.

Wallpaper is Back – What’s old is new again. Often used on an accent wall, today’s wallpaper trends are all about making an artistic statement.

Spa-like Amenities – Modern bathrooms are incorporating more luxury elements like automatic sinks, underfloor heating systems, towel warmers and showers that can be programmed to start at a certain time. Many homeowners are also opting for integrated Bluetooth sound systems and therapeutic components like infrared saunas and deep soaker tubs. Some master bathroom designs can even feature a beverage center or small refrigerators for medications or organic skin treatments.

Bold Black Bathrooms – Homeowners are looking to bring that spa-like feeling to their home bathrooms. Black evokes a theatrical, bold and sultry feel to the space. This trend is most popular in matte finishes on light fixtures, vanities, mirror framing and even walls, and can be incorporated in both small powder rooms and larger master bathrooms.

Tile Patterns and Shapes – Not just for floors, we’re seeing new and improved tile shapes and patterns on shower walls, back splashes and even ceiling accents.

Wood Accents and Nature – Homeowners who prefer warmer earth tones that create a sense of wellness will love the return of wood accents and potted plants in bathroom designs. As the name suggests, at Surroundings by Natureworks, we’re especially fond of this trend that brings together shades of white, blue, brown and green. This trend goes nicely with vintage designs but can also be used with more modern concepts.
