• Proactive Winter Disaster Avoidance

  • My disaster story is really ALL my fault.  Although I don’t really care for the word fault.  Lets use “responsibility” instead.

If only I had followed my own advice and disconnected the hoses from the spigots, emptied and brought in our ceramic and clay pots and properly cleared the path for the downspout.

But I did not.  So …. a few destroyed pots were tossed in the garbage, a few hundred dollars to replace the spigot and pooling water that may have added a little bit of moisture in the basement.

Simply … do as I say, not as I did.

Boasting a little now, because those items and more have been accomplished.  And it wasn’t that big of a deal.  Took 30 minutes.

Of course, there’s plenty more to do before the Polar Vortex consumes the midwest and I’m thrilled to say we are ready!  Ice melt and new snow shovel purchased!  Gutters cleaned, beds groomed and leaf removal done (well, almost).

So, don’t get caught with your pants down and gutters overflowing.  Get winter ready NOW.
